Borders Wheels is delighted to announce that we have been appointed to lead the Walk It project by the Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Partnership until March 2025

Borders Wheels is a Community Transport Charity with locality offices in Jedburgh, Galashiels, Peebles, and Duns.  On the 1st of April Borders Wheels completed a merger of Berwickshire Wheels into the organisation.

Denise Carmichael is the new Borders Wheels CEO and previously ran the Walk It project for 15 years, in 2024 Denise was awarded Volunteer Manager of the Year by Paths for All – Scotland’s leading walking charity.

Denise said “I am absolutely delighted to be running Walk It again, and can see the benefits across our business streams, social inclusion, health and wellbeing and making the Borders more accessible for all of our clients and Walkers”.  The Borders Wheels Business Manager Jocelyn Naylor will run the Walk It Project. Jocelyn also brings to Walk It a wealth of senior experience in the Third Sector and high level of fitness qualifications, essential to understand the impact of Walking for wellbeing.
